NO NEW SNOW IN THE LAST 24 HOURS
MID MOUNTAIN BASE DEPTH 25"
Good morning skiers and snowboarders, this is Mario with your SnoFax report for November 28th, 2024. Despite no new snow in the last 24 hours, there's still plenty of snow out there to be thankful for. Our 2 foot midmountain base has been successfully skier compacted, and now all we can do is pray for more snow to keep filling in the gaps. Yesterday's energy at the resort was something new. People were thankful for a great opening day, especially after a long icy year last year. These great early season conditions are still early season conditions, and while the powder was soft there are still plenty of sharks in the water.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today we can expect similar wintery temps to yesterday, ranging from 14°F to 27°F under a mix of clouds and sun, with a bit more wind than yesterday, blowing out of the West at 10-15mph.
YESTERDAY'S SKIING:Challenger provided a great handful of runs yesterday, but be weary as that top traverse was growing thin by mid morning. As usual, the South Face of Challenger looked far thinner than what was open on the North Face, and it's probably gonna be a bit before we can ski anything over there. The trees all around the resort were fluffy and fun with just enough snow to hide the large obstacles, and barely enough snow to save you from annhialtion on said obstacles. The groomers on Andesite were a little wavier than usual, but far less icy than they were all of last year.
TODAY'S SKIING: We can expect our groomers to be top tier today, and if you're looking to save yourself for the great days to come later this season, it may be wise to wait until the next layer of snow stacks up on our off piste terrain before you start getting adventerous again.
MORE TERRAIN?: Rumors of avalance conditions are what I have heard are keeping the Bowl closed, perhaps they just don't want the Turkey Traverse to get blown out on the first day either. When it comes to mid to lower mountain terrain, there's plenty that could be opened soon, but I am sure the resort wants to get the most out of their snow making before opening Thunderwolf or Southern Comfort.
THE MISSION: All in all, that's the skiing I was able to get into myself. When I'm able to get out there and it's worth mentioning, or I am not afraid to spoil a good secret stash, you'll be hearing about it here on SnoFax and I am hoping that we all will be hearing from many more people in the future.
It seems obvious to me that the Resort no longer finds their written snow reports to be that important, as they can be summarized as "new snow, weather, and maybe one relevant update." But even that seems a stretch as the written report yesterday did not even mention the fact that the Resort had put a tow rope in the park, a request that Park Rats have been making for years...
The people have spoken, and their request has been heard, perhaps if we spoke up more, and in a unified voice, we could see more great positive changes at this resort and in our community. This is not about sticking it to the man or rattling the tree, it's about openly expressing the often unspoken common will of the people.
Thankyou to all of my current paid supporters, and I hope you find SnoFax enjoyable enough to share with your friends.
That's it for now,
As always remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
