OVERNIGHT SNOWFALL
BAVARIA: 8"
LIBERTY ~12"
LOBO: 4"
ANDESITE:3.5
LOOKOUT: 2"
MID MOUNTAIN BASE DEPTH AT LOBO: 26.2"
Good morning skiers and snowboarders. Bavaria is reading 8" overnight as of 6am, I would not be surprised if Liberty Bowl had at least a foot of snow; however it seems the resort's stake up there has malfunctioned. The heavens have opened and delivered to us a marvelous, slow moving North/Northwest storm. These systems hover over our South Face, sometimes delivering double or triple the snow to that part of the mountian. As for the rest of the mountian, 3-4" has blanketed the terrain, with little wind to create any imperfections, and we've got snow expected nearly all day. I would expect to see the heaviest snowfall between 6am and 9am.
CALLING ON SnoFax to get a picture of this snow depth on liberty today as I unfortunately have an appointment that I cannot miss.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temps are expected to range between 1°F at the summit, and 23°F at the base, with mid mountain temps in the teens, and wind are expected to remain calm out of the Northwest gusting to 15mph at the summit. Dress warm and ready to ski some pow.
SOUTH FACE ANOMALY: The Ski Patrol refers to events like these as "South Face Anomalies". The pefect combination of wind direciton, wind speed, and low temps deliveres large amounts of light heavenly powder to some of the best skiing on our mountain. It may be low viz, but once they get it opened up, the deepest turns will be off of the Tram today.
Winds are expected to shift, and pick up throughout the week, but the constant expectation is snow and low temps. Get up there and enjoy this powder, and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some more ropes dropped today.
The mountian is sure to continue to improve throughout this week, as always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
