1/2" to 1" NEW SNOW DURING THE DAY YESTERDAY
MID MOUNTAIN BASE DEPTH AT LOBO 24.9"
Good morning skiers and snowboarders, this is Mario with your SnoFax report for Friday, December 13th 2024. Flurries and flakes fell yesterday, dusting the mountain with another layer of snow, and every little bit counts as we stack up our base, here a little, there a litte. Yesterday the resort announced that Shedhorn was spinning, and Marx was open for skiing. Last I heard, Marx was a pretty dicey up top as you navigate around the initial rocks, but glad to hear it's good enough for them to have opened it up. Anyone have some feedback as to how it was skiing yesterday?
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temps are going to be similar to yesterday, ranging from 12°F to 28°F with mid mountain temps around 20°F, and the winds have shifted overnight, and will blow at 10-20mph, gusting to 35mph out of the South/Southwest. Clouds are expected to come and go through out the day, with the most sun possible around noon.
It's a magical time of year when the mountain begins to open up and our portfolio of skiing begins to expand, all before the first wave of crowds rolls through around Christmas. The feeling of good early season skiing, combined with the early season vibe is a special kind of skiing that you begin to miss come January. Now especially is the the best time to learn your mountain as well. Navigating around rocks and obstacles while you can still see them can give you the confidence to choose your lines wisely as the powder begins to stack up on top of it all.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
