TRACE OF NEW SNOW OVERNIGHT
MID MOUNTAIN BASE DEPTH 31.6"
Good morning skiers and snowboarders, this is Mario with you SnoFax report for Wednesday, December 18th, 2024. Flurries fell late in the day yesterday and a little last night bringing us another trace of snow. Westerly winds have hit 57mph at the summit this morning and it's only supposed to get windier, so our mountain is sure to be looking different than it did at the end of the day yesterday. Winds were buffing the top of Midnight and Moonlight yesterday already, and hopefully we are getting some good cross-loading on the South Face this morning. But from top the bottom the skiing is phenomenal. There are still plenty of logs, and saplings poking through, as well as rocks lurking just beneath the surface, but for December 18th this skiing is mind-blowing.
WIND AND TEMPS: Todays temps are expected to range 16°F at the summit, and 32°F at the base, with mid mountain temps in 20's, and winds are expected to ramp up continuing out of the South/Southwest, gusting to 50mph at mid mountain potentially. Expect some possible wind holds out there today.
A little bit of snow may roll through today, and when the weather is moving this fast it's obviously very hard to predict. But the great news is our temps are predicted to stay down and the sun's gonna come out tomorrow.
.AMAZING SUPPORT!
We have over 50 people signed up for SnoFax! And almost a dozen supporters, and outside of that, all of you people on the mountain that I have been able to see again this winter have been very supportive. Writing about the skiing is one of my greatest passions, and I am happy to hear that people appreciate it. For those of you that work on the mountain, or that are up there all the time, please consider becoming a supporter and contributing to the snow report by the people, for the people! No need to expose every secret stash, or prime powder spot, but the important news that will keep people safe is what will set SnoFax apart from any other snow report you have ever read.
Dress warm and for the wind out there today, chase wind drifts and expect tracks to be refilled. Groomers are gonna be smooth and soft. Keep praying for snow!
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
