4-5" OF NEW SNOW OVERNIGHT, AND IT'S STILL COMING DOWN!
MID MOUNTAIN BASE DEPTH 34"
Merry Christmas and good morning! This is Mario with your Big Sky snow report for Wednesday, December 25th, 2024. Strong Southerly winds gave way to a cold front from the Northwest, bringing with it an even coating of snow. It's still coming down and will probably keep coming until lifts start spinning or a bit after. There's some sun in the forecast for around noon, so this Christmas is is sure to have it all! And itt looks like it's just going to keep on snowing until 2025. This addition truly should be the beginning of our final push to great coverage, and comfortable skiing from top to bottom across the resort. Once we have a 40" base, we will really be skiing easy.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temperatures are expected to range from 12°F at the summit, to 30°F at the base, with mid mountain temps around 20°F. Winds are expected to remain calm and variable, eventually shifting back to blowing in from the Southwest before dark.
The webcam suggests Andesite may have gotten slightly more snow than the rest of the mountain, but with the wind being as calm as it is, you can rely on the snow falling in fairly evenly. A pow day Christmas with sun in the forecast is about all you could ever ask for. Spread some holiday cheer, make some friends on a pow day, and savour every minute of it. There's no place like the mountain on the Holidays. As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
