2" OVERNIGHT AT MID MOUNTAIN, S/SW WIND INCREASING TODAY
MID MOUNTAIN BASE DEPTH: 37"
More than a foot of snow has fallen in the last five days, and our base is nearing 40". The mid to lower mountain across the resort is thoroughly covered to the point where you can ski confidently and comfortably without worry of obstacles, perhaps with the exception of Dakota and Shedhorn terrain. This wind grooming has made for a mogul skiers paradise on runs like Africa, or in the Bowl, as each mogul has been recoated with the perfect amount of snow every night for a week. Up top, people are confidently shredding through the Headwaters, and through the Dictators, but the constant wind is preventing bony traverses from filling in. Expect more wind holds today.
WIND AND TEMPS: Another windy, snowy day lies ahead of us-- slightly warmer than yesterday but windier. The forecast calling for the largest dump of this continued storm tonight. Temps are expected to range between 18°F at the summit, and 32°F at the base, with mid mountain temps in the 20's, and winds are expected out of the South bny SouthWest, gusting over 55mph at the summit, and 30mph at mid mountain.
Yesterday strong winds made for icy conditions at the top of Swifty, toppling over beginner skiers. Long lines persisted there and at Southern Comfort most of the day. Runs are crowded but not overflowing. Great skiing is always available without long lines via upper mountain lifts like Powder Seeker, or Headwaters.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
