1-2" OVERNIGHT, UP TO 6"+ IN LAST 24 HOURS, FRIGID TEMPS AND MORE SUN TODAY
MID MOUNTAIN BASE DEPTH 42"
Temps have dropped below 0°F at the summit, and with that the wind and snow has also died down. Yesterday's snow fell from bell to bell practically, along with NW winds. Upper Mountain skiing off of Challenger was fantastic, with the traverse being more covered than ever. Certainly the traverse off of the Tram has improved significantly as well. Today is going to feel like a bluebird pow day, since we actually should be able to see the sun for the first time in days, and much of the snow that fell during the day yesterday has not been skied to it's full potential. Expect snow to be slow, and heavier than yesterday as it has now settled. There's no going wrong out there today, with only an inch overnight, our groomers should be pristine as a well.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temps are expected go range between 0°F at the summit, and 19°F at the base, with mid mountain temps around 10°F, and winds are expected out of the NW, gusting to only 15mph at the summit. All of this under increasingly sunny skies, with flurries continuing to fall throughout the morning.
42" of snowfall has fallen this December at Lobo. Cold temps expected for a few days here, along with less wind, this should be great for the long term health of our skiing as this new snow will get more time to settle in and get packed down, instead of getting blown away.
CROWDS: Crowds have been large but manageable. I would highly advise avoiding Madison 8 in the late morning, as well as the early afternoon. It seems everyone ends up there right before or after their lunch. Other than that, Southern Comfort and Swifty are really then only places with continuous, unavoidable lines, however these truly have been moving quickly.
Expect some more terrain to open up today as Patrol gets caught up after all of this snow, and now has some visibility, and less wind loading to stay on top of.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
