2-5" NEW SNOW OVERNIGHT, NW WINDS CONTINUE TO BLOW
Another system from the NorthWest has rolled in and looks like it's goint to get stuck on the mountain, favoring the Southern side of the resort, delivering as much as 4.5" to Bavaria overnight. This snow is a little heavier and stickier, and is going to be forming plenty of wind drifts. The wind was already doing a lot of work to buff things out yesterday, so expect plenty of places to feel deeper than just a few inches. It's going to be great snow for snowboarders, but may start getting heavier for the two-plankers. Dress for a cold snowy day, but it looks like the wind should die down.
WIND AND TEMPS: It should be a cold one, with temps ranging from 1°F at the summit, to 21°F at the base, with mid mountain temps in the teens, and winds are expected out of the NW, gusting to 40mph this morning, hopefully dying down before noon, to speeds to gusts below 20mph. All of this under cloudy snowy skies, expected to deliver freshies until monday.
The continued cloud cover in addition to all of this snow has preserved our snow miraculously. At Dakota yesterday, you could start to feel a sun baked crust from just one sunny day a couple of days ago. The sun is expected to come out this week, and we could sure use the Vitamin D, but the Vitamin ski has been doing the trick for me.
