NO NEW SNOW FOR 48 HOURS
I apologize for the lack of report yesterday, along with today's later update, but things are happening and snow has not been falling! I hope you've gotten out to enjoy the sunshine as it appears we are about to enter our first significant descent into frigid temps this weekend. This is a wonderful time of year to have a lot of snow on the ground as the sunlight is just not strong enough to do any real damage, and the conditions stay soft. NW winds are continuing to windgroom our upper mountain terrain, and all in all the skiing is fantastic.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temperatures are expected to range between 27°F at the summit, and 34°F at the base, with mid mountain temps in the upper 20's, and winds are expected out of the NW all day gusting to 35mph at the summit. All under mostly sunny skies.
More sun and comfortable temps tomorrw, with increasing SW winds, the come Friday, a very cold front from the North is going to drop us below 0°F for a couple of days. It seems for now the clouds have cleared and the poweder has settled, and there's not telling when our next 2 week continuous dump will come, if ever. We did not have a 40" SNOTEL reading until March last season, so it's fair to be said that we are off to a great start. It'll be a bit warm out there today, but this snow is not going anywhere anytime soon, so let's pray that things continue to stack up. Crowds are gone and the skiing is great.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
