NO NEW SNOW FOR 24 HOURS
MID MOUNTIAN BASE DEPTH 4'+
No new snow to talk about this morning, but thankfully none of it has gone anywhere. Our 4 foot mid mountain base is holding strong, and we will have to check back in after this week as there's nothing but sun in the forecast. Our first real high pressure system since some time in December. Today is going to be a pristine ski day, starting off a little chilly, but eventually the sun will warm things up to provide the perfect skiing temps. NW winds have picked up slightly at the summit, possibly recirculating some snow to our South Face. Several days of single digit temps have firmed up the base of our packed down snow, and things may get warm enough at lower elevations to start seeing some sun baking out there today.
WIND AND TEMPS: Temps should range from 9°F at the summit this morning when we open, to 23°F at the base this afternoon, with mid mountain temps starting off in the single digits, quickly warming up to the teens. All of this under Bluebird sunny skies, with Winds continuing to swirl in from the North, gusting to only about 20mph at the summit.
Today is the perfect kind of day to get out and ski from bell to bell. Dress a little warm for the morning, but not too many layers as that sun is going to warm things up to optimal ski temps quickly. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. Crowds are not bad, especially if you avoid the base at busy times, and the entire mountain is open.
That NE snow definitely restored some of our East and North Facing slopes, as I could see beautiful pow turns through the gullies yesterday. Temps are expected to climb up into the mid 30's for a few days in a row this week. The only constant is change here on Lone Mountain, but thankfully things have been trending in the right direction for practically the entire season.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
