NO NEW SNOW FOR 48 HRS
No new snow to talk about for a couple of days, but I think everybody is welcoming the sun with open arms. Our four foot mid mountain base is holding up strong. NW winds have increased overnight, so keep eye out for wind grooming on the South Face and in the Bowl, and watch out for scouring on other aspects. Today is going to be the most mild day of skiing we've had practically all month, and the next few will follow the same pattern.
WIND AND TEMPS: Temps should range between 25°F at the summit, and 35°F at the base, with mid mountain temps right around 30°F. Winds are expected to be calm and out of the Northeast gusting to only about 20mph at the summit. All under bluebird sunny skies.
If winds do the unexpected and continue to gust to 35mph at the summit like they have overnight, that would help prevent sun baking on our south face. As for the rest of the mountain, you can expect the snow in the sun to get nice and soft as the day goes on, making for smooth groomers to carve, and nice rythmic moguls. Expect the steeps on the North Side to stay nice and chalky. Keep praying for snow as we await our next heavenly refreshment! Should be warm enough out there for sweatshirt skiing this afternoon.
To all of you who have recently joine SnoFax, THANKYOU SO MUCH for you support! Your being here proves that there is a hunger for more detailed snow reports for this big mountain, and if you are a supporter you can contribute as well! By the people for the people!
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
