6" NEW SNOW OVERNIGHT
6" of new snow has fallen overnight, and another inch throughout the day yesterday. Steady Westerly winds have blown all night, gusting to 35mph at mid mountain, 50mph at the summit. Wind drifts are sure to be huge and numerous out there. Yesterday's new snow, combined with today's,and all this wind is sure to make for an entirely new snowscape once again. The upper mountain was skiing well, with the South Face catching a good amount of snow in the areas that were not too exposed. Liberty Bowl likely being the terrain that has suffered the most from this wind, as most of the resort is either sheltered, or positioned somewhat perpindicular to these West by SouthWesterly gales. There's really no going wrong out there today, with a foot in the last couple of days, you're sure to find some good turns. When in doubt, head for the trees for better viz, and more natural features to catch all of this blowing snow.
WIND AND TEMPS: Temps are expected to range between 12°F at the summit, and 27°F at the base, with mid mountaint temps in the teens, and winds are expected to be slightly calmer today, coming a bit more out of the SW, gusting to 30mph at the summit by the time we open.
More storm skiing on the menu, with no pause in the action in sight. This snow has fallen steadily throughout the entire night, and we can expect the wind to firm it up in places. It's a bad day to be a park rat, but a great day to ski powder. Nothing like dressing warm, hunting pow, and chasing free refills as new snow and wind constantly recirculate these freshies. Drive safe this morning and trust that there will be powder whenever you get there, even if it's not until 3:30pm.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
