NO NEW SNOW FOR 48 HOURS
MID MOUNTAIN BASE DEPTH, 71" AT LOBO
No new snow for a couple of days now on Lone Mountain, and yesterday's pristine conditions with a 70" base were what we live for. This morning, Westerly winds have picked up, gusting over 50mph at the summit already, and high flying clouds are rolling though. Not much change to the mid to lower mountain expected, but you can look forward to some wind buffing on the upper mountain. Expect snow to have swirled into the Bowl, the South Face to have been cross loaded, and possibly some stripping higher up on the most exposed surfaces. There's a possibility for some wind holds out there today, but hopefully these winds die down just a little bit so that we can ski the mountaint tip to tail.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temps should range between 18°F at the summit, and 32°F at the base, slightly warmer than yesterday but without the sun to really heat things up. And winds are expected out of the West/Southwest, gusting to 50mph at the summit, and hitting 25mph at mid mountian. All under highflying overcast skies, with a chance for some sun this afternoon.
Mid mountian temps in the 20's and great snow makes for some awesome ski days. Nothing holding you back from skiing bell to bell, other than your own constitution. Some more snow expected tonight/tomorrow, and some slightly warmer temps, but thankfully nothing higher than mid 30's. Drive safely this morning as roads have been experiencing some freeze-thaw cycles recently and can catch you by surprise.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
