NO NEW SNOW FOR A FEW DAYS
MID MOUNTAIN BASE DEPTH AT LOBO 65"
Another 24 hours and another couple of inches has melted off of our base, but thankfully there's still plenty left. Today is lining up to be the warmest day yet this season, and mid mountain temps are already climbing above freezing as of 6am. Yesterday, swirling winds at the summit gusting over 30mph helped keep things from absolutely melting down up there, but today those winds are expected to die down. It's already warming up up there, so we can expect mashed potatoes to abound at 11,000ft. Thankfully, it shouldn't take long at all for anything that has frozen overnight to turn into some beautiful spring skiing mush.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temps should range between 30°F at the summit, and 48°F at the base, with mid mountain temps climbing over 40°F. And winds are expected to be light, gusting only to about 20mph at the summit, out of the West. All under total bluebird sunny skies.
It's hard to believe that March has already arrived, and with it some textbook spring skiing. One more day of fun in the sun tomorrow, then it's looking like winter returns for at least a few days next week. Today is going to be a real spring skiing Saturday, so be ready to share this great mountain with tourists and commuters alike. Dress too warm and you'll cook in the lift line. But seriously, it's going to be a wonderful day, and it's a bit wild to think that we can have days like today, with nearly two months of skiing left.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
