NO NEW SNOW FOR 5 DAYS
MID MOUNTAIN BASE DEPTH AT LOBO 63"
No new snow for five days now on Lone Mountain, and we've had a string of beautiful, wonderful slushy spring skiing days. Today unfortunately is not going to be one of those days. At mid mountain, temps have dropped nearly 20°F since noon, settling us well below freezing in the mid 20's. Snow is expected to start flying around noon today, on and off for the next few days, but we are going to need a solid few inches to start improving our skiing. Expect terrain closures on the South Facing terrain if Patrol deems the skiing too firm and too dangerous.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temps are expected to range between 12°F at the summit, and 30°F at the base, with mid mountain temps in the 20's, and winds are expected to pick up slightly, gusting to about 25mph at the summit, out of the North. All under cloudy skies, with snow hopefully falling all afternoon.
Pray for snow and some unexpected big dumps. If you are headed out today, expect black ice anywhere the road has been wet from the melting snow. Not much else to report on today, the only place safe from this crust will likely be Head Waters terrain. Some groomers could be edgeable if they were groomed late enough, and are consisting of enough granular corn snow instead of icey base. A bad day skiing is better than a lot of other kinds of good days.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
