NO NEW SNOW FOR 3 DAYS
No new snow for three days on Lone Mountain, and Southwest winds are currently ripping at 60mph at the summit. Graybird skies right now are expected to give way to sun later this morning, and temps are going to be similar to yesterday. More spring skiing down low, with chalky wind-buffed snow being found on our upper mountain terrain that hasn't gotten sun baked. Expect more buff to be swriling into the bowl, but with winds at this speed, it's likely we are going to start seeing some scouring off of the Tram and Challenger. Mid mountain temps climbed well above freezing to the mid 30's yesterday, and are now sitting in the mid 20's, so expect a firm and crusty morning out there, especially on snow that gets a lot of direct sun.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temps should range between 19°F at the summit, and 39°F at the base, with mid mountain temps around 30°F in the morning, climbing above freezing for the afternoon. Winds are expected to keep howling out of the Southwest, gusting over 60mph at the summit, and 30mph at mid mountain. All under a mix of clouds and sun.
Well I hope you all are adjusting well to our new time change, one thing to keep in mind is that our mountain is going to warm up later in the day, as 1pm is the new noon. It's going to be a beautiful day out there for sure. Spring time makes for epic fast moving weather, and a spectacular feeling of change. Don't count winter out yet however, as we are still due for some more snowfall in the mountains. Be prepared for possible wind holds and more terrain limitations by patrol today.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
