24 HR SNOW TOTALS
LOOKOUT RIDGE 11.3"
BAVARIA 9"
LOBO 7"
ANDESITE 6"
6-12" of new snow has fallen overnight, after the lifts have closed, with it looking like the North Side of the mid-mountain has gotten hit the hardest, but of course the higher you go, the more snow you should be able to find as well and these conditions seem likely to favor the SouthFace which is currently only reading 6", but I would wager much more. This snow rolled in with relatively calm winds out of the NorthWest, gusting about 20mph at the summit through the night. Furries are still falling, and these calm NW winds are expected to hold out most of the day. This snow is light and and airy, as temps have dropped from the mid 30's yesterday, now into the low teens. Expect white out conditions all day long, and patrol to have their hands full this morning.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temps should range between 3°F at the summit, and 25°F at the base this afternoon, with midmountain temps hovering in the low teens, and winds are expected out of the North/Northwest, gusting to about 20mph at the summit. All under snowy skies.
Well our prayers have been answered, but no need to stop now, let's hope that this just keeps on coming. It's going to be a bit crazy out there today I'd imagine as people have been hungry for powder for a week now, and powder has been delivered. Great tree skiing as always where you can see, and let's hope patrol has no issues opening up our steeps, but patience will be required. Spring breakers will abound as Friday is the new Saturday and Bozeman Spring break starts tomorrow. Drive safe!!
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there!
