24 HR SNOW 2-6"
Throughout the day yesterday we saw another 2-5" fall across the resort. This storm seems to have favored the South Face. The resort is reporting 10" in 24 hours at Bavaria, but it's really more like 5.5" because the snow stake never got cleared. Another inch or so has fallen overnight. Like most spring storms, the higher you go, the more snow you will find. NE winds have been calmly swirling, not even hitting 20mph at the summit, so our uppermountain is likely loaded up quite nicely and evenly. Let's hope this sticks. Yesterday's snow was super light, and the inch or so that has fallen overnight is slightly heavier. Temps have dropped and are currently in the single digits at mid mountain.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temps are gonna be cold this morning, the clouds are rolling back and cold air is settling in, ranging from 0°F at the summit, to about 15°F at the base at 9am, but with mostly sunny skies today, the mid to lower mountain will warm up fast. Temps should be in the teens once again at mid mountain, and up to 30°F at the base by noon. Winds are shifting Southerly, picking up slightly gusting to 20mph at the summit.
If the resort pushes 10" in 24 hours without specifiying that that number is keenly specific to the upper mountain and the Liberty snow stake, well that would be quite a shame. In reality, an awesome day of skiing awaits! Left over pow, a little refresher overnight, deep stashes to be found up high and in the trees. Dress warm and know that it'll stay quite cold in the shade. Keep praying for pow as it seems like it's gonna just keep on coming through the weekend!
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
