24 HR SNOW 5"
North winds hit 40mph yesterday, and with them brought 5" of new snow across the resort in the last 24 hours, with the last inch or so trickling in overnight. Temps have remained steady, in the teens at mid mountain, and single digits at the summit. Westerly winds have continued overnight, shuffling around this new snow, cross-loading our South Face, and hopefully dumping snow into the Bowl, and onto the East Face of Challenger. Steady winds and wintery temps expected to continue today.
WIND AND TEMPS: Today's temps are expected to range between 9°F at the summit, and 32°F at the base, with mid mountian temps in the high teens, and winds are expected out of the SouthWest, gusting to 40mph at the summit. Clouds are expected to break apart this morning, making for some much improved viz to ski this powder after yesterday's whiteout conditions.
A wonderful wintery day of powder skiing awaits on a base over 6 feet deep. The bumps all around the mountain are practically a perfect luge course. Groomers should be great for carves as well, with only an inch or so falling since yesterday's close. Follow the wind out there to ski soft, chalky, smooth lines on the upper mountain. More snow on the way through the weekend, let's hope these next waves deliver as much as this one.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
