NO NEW SNOW OVERNIGHT, MAYBE A TRACE!
Well we are currently flying blind on weather stations at Big Sky Resort, I talked to Gallatin National Forest Avalance Center yesterday and it sounds like the tech people doing tech stuff between the two operations are dropping the ball, BUT they should be publicly accessible via that website soon... These weather stations are indeed up and running, and are being used and maintained by Ski Patrol, as well as auto populating the Resort's snow report map. Bless whoever Mike is, as the resort has tasked him and the others in charge of writing the written reports with going along with their algorithm's numbers. They are reporting 1" of snowfall at Lookout Ridge. There's no way of checking for ourselves, or even looking at the data ourselves as of right now, but I can guarantee that did not happen.
Today's weather should be similar to yesterday, only slightly warmer with a little better chance for sun around noon. Temps in the mid to upper twenties with calm winds swirling out of the South, gusting to only about 10mph. A few inches of new snow are expected tonight.
My guess is the snow will come early, falling heavy in the last hours of the ski day. But that's just a guess.
The top of MR.K is looking great on the TRAM CAM as the snow cats have been putting in work up there. But I would imagine the middle and bottom are going to take every bit of time to get covered that the resort has forecasted. Hopefully Swifty some time tomorrow.
Plenty to be thakful for on the ski hill, and in life. Just remember that it could always be worse. Happy Thanksgiving!
