NO NEW SNOW OVERNIGHT, FLURRIES FALLING EARLY THIS MORNING
Just a trace of new snow has fallen in the last 24 hours, but in the early hours of this morning, the flurries have picked up. As usual in Big Sky, the snow forecasted for last night seems to have migrated towards today, but it's seeming like it's shaping up to be a good one. Mid mountain temps are currently hovering in the upper 20's, but are expected to drop all day long. Cold and relatively calm air is rolling in from Northwest, hopefully lingering most of the day, keeping clouds trapped over the Peak. Looks like we can count on sun through the weekend, so let's hope we can get the most juice out of this squeeze.
Today's temps are going to start off in the mid 20's, potentially dropping down to single digits by the time lifts stop spinning and the clouds clear up. Winds will swirl in out of the West by Northwest, hopefully gusting no more than 20mph at mid mountain level.
We still have no access to Big Sky weather stations other than the SNOTEL. Hopefully this issue will be resolved after the holiday weekend.
The resort has promised MR.K today! It would be my guess that there could be some rocks churned up on the first and second headwall by the end of the day, but the snow making has improved drastically over the years, and I'm sure the Resort wants that run to be rock solid (no pun intended) for the gondola this year.
As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
