ANDESITE: 4" LOBO: 8" LOOKOUT: 8" BAVARIA: 6"
Temps right around 20°F, and steady winds out of the West delivered 4-8" of powder overnight, with another trace falling yesterday during the day. Still no access to most of the weather stations, but for now the numbers seem legit. It seems like the weather rolled over the Peak, and settled in areas that are more protected from Westerly winds. Lobo being the weather station reporting the most snow, it matches up with the SNOTEL. This means there should be great skiing in the Bowl, and a great addition to the mid mountain base.
Today's temps may get a little warmer, ranging between 16°F at mid mountain, and 26°F at the base, with Westerly winds continuing to gust to 30mph at the summit. All under mostly cloudy skies with a chance for more snow beginning later this afternoon and into the evening.
What an amazing dump we've got on our hands out here today. There may even be a break in the clouds sometime this morning to actually be able to see while you ski in The Bowl. A huge contribution to our base, and seemingly just the beginning and one of many more to come in the near future. Let's hope they can all deliver like this one. I would expect some rope drops soon as I am sure Ski Patrol is eager to get some skier traffic on certain runs in order to use us as human compaction devices. As always, remember to stay safe, and remember what lurks beneath the surface...
