1.5" of snow across the resort in last 24 hours
Temps have dropped below 20°F for what feels like the first time in forever. An inch and a half of light snow has fallen in the last 24 hours, and it's currently a whiteout! It's peak holiday week! North Side skiing opened up with some nice powdery turns off of Lone Tree, and Westerly winds continue to gust to about 40mph at the summit, buffing out that upper mountain terrain and loading up our bowls. Lots of sun in the forecast after today, so lets hope we get a lotta juice out of this squeeze.
Today's temps are expected to range between 5°F at the summit, and 21°F at the base, with winds steadily blowing out of the West, gusting to 25mph at mid mountain, all under cloudy snowy skies.
Christmas came a couple days late this year, but that's alright. The warm sunny skiing sure has been a treat, and it looks like we have even more of that this week. Big Sky has been advertising the "most skiing" in America so we will have to wait and see how that pans out for last minute trippers, and people booking trips later on this year. Lots and lots of people in town that's for sure. Nearly all of our lifts are spinning, but there's lots more to be opened up.
