12.28.25 SnoFax COLD with some freshies

3-6" of freshies in last 24 HRS, Higher Elevations Favored

3-6" of Cold Smoke freshies have blanketed the resort, as cold air from the Northwest has plummeted the temp down to -15°F at the summit. It seems like most of the mid mountain got about 3", and portions of the upper mountain may see even double that accumulation. Winds are not howling, but will certainly be a factor, moving a lot of this super light snow around, still gusting to about 30mph at the summit. Dress for the coldest day of skiing so far this year!

Today's temps are expected to range between -10°F at the summit, and 15°F at the base, with mid mountain temps in the single digits until noon, and winds are expected to continue out of the West/Northwest, gusting to about 20mph at the summit. All under bluebird sunny skies.

It's a bluebired freshie reset day, with great turns being provided all around the resort over the past few days simply from wind reseting and a little bit of snow here and there, it sure is shaping up to be another great day on the mountain with this cold smoke to boot. Expect some great upper mountain turns to be found, wherever the wind has favored. Still could use quite a bit of base depth out there, but we are nearing that sweet spot number of about 40" mid mountain base depth where things start to really turn on. For now, ski with the end in mind, I have high hopes for this season, and we've got a week of sun ahead of us.

Final day of the year!

NW winds continue to refresh the upper mountain! More fun and sun and ideal skiing temps today!

12.30.25 SnoFax

Warmer, more ideal sunny skiing! NW winds to 30mph continuing to buff out upper mountain terrain. Lower mountain trees beginning to get tracked out.

12.29.25 SnoFax

Ideal skiing temps! Bluebird Skies! Steady NW winds buffing out that upper mountain terrain, loading up the South Face. More terrain opening every day from trees on Andesite to trees on the South Side. Gotta see how our base holds up after this week of sun! A little bit of freshies fell last night but just a trace, wind loading at bavaria and slightly more snow leading to higher reading over there.

SnoFax 12.27.25 Winter Temps!

1.5" of snow across the resort in last 24 hours

Temps have dropped below 20°F for what feels like the first time in forever. An inch and a half of light snow has fallen in the last 24 hours, and it's currently a whiteout! It's peak holiday week! North Side skiing opened up with some nice powdery turns off of Lone Tree, and Westerly winds continue to gust to about 40mph at the summit, buffing out that upper mountain terrain and loading up our bowls. Lots of sun in the forecast after today, so lets hope we get a lotta juice out of this squeeze.

Today's temps are expected to  range between 5°F at the summit, and 21°F at the base, with winds steadily blowing out of the West, gusting to 25mph at mid mountain, all under cloudy snowy skies.

Christmas came a couple days late this year, but that's alright. The warm sunny skiing sure has been a treat, and it looks like we have even more of that this week. Big Sky has been advertising the "most skiing" in America so we will have to wait and see how that pans out for last minute trippers, and people booking trips later on this year. Lots and lots of people in town that's for sure. Nearly all of our lifts are spinning, but there's lots more to be opened up.

More South Winds!

No new snow today but the 15" of snow we've gotten in the last week has dramatically transformed the skiing. There's great powdery snow to be found in the Bowl, and fun wind buffed skiing to be had off of Challenger, and into the Headwaters. South Winds gusting to 75mph overnight likely continued to load up the The Bowl and the Headwaters, while scouring the South Faces of the peak and Challenger. Still no Lone Tree on the North Side, sounds like we just need more snow over there...

Today's temps are expected to be similar to yesterday, ranging between 23°F at the summit, and 37°F down at the base, with winds howling stronger than yesterday, gusting to 40mph at mid mountain. All under mostly cloudy skies.

Looks like we are going to get some more snow for Christmas! A few more days of warmer temps, ripping winds, and snow blowing in out of the Southwest before temps drop halfway through the weekend and we have a chance to top things off with a little Northwest storm action, then cold wintery temps and sun into next week. There sure are a lot of people out on the mountain but the skiing is nice and that Gondola sure helps keep people spread out! A Christmas cheer is in the air and the snow is not nearly as bad in Big Sky as it is in a lot of other places.  As always remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
